Makalidurga Hill is 60 km to the outskirts of Bangalore. A height 4430ft and being only 10 Kms ahead of Doddaballapura makes it a perfect weekend trekking destination. It is a beautiful hill surrounded by a lake on the west which looks like the South American continent. A railway track passes through the base of the hill which makes this trek even more interesting. The Makalidurga Fort is on top of the hill which enables one to capture the most beautiful sunset and sunrise from the hilltop. There is abundance of the country vicinity at Makalidurga and for all the adventure enthusiasts the ideal way to do trekking at Makalidurga is to start it after the Makalidurga Railway Station which adds a vintage style to the trekking for the hill.

Makalidurga Day Trek will start when we reach the Makalidurga Railway Station. A beautiful railway track passes through the base of the hill which adds a different kind of thrill when the train passes on railway track.
The area on top of the hill can be divided in three: The center, West Side and East Side. The center of the Makalidurga Hill Top has a Shiva Temple where pooja is done occasionally by the local villagers. There is a broken Basava Idol, a broken Shiva Linga and a broken Garuda Gamba in front of the temple premises.
To explore more on the hill go downhill from the other end of the hill. It will connect the railhead as well as the base of the other hills around the majestic Makalidurga Hill.
THINGS TO CARRY

|T-SHIRT/SHIRT||T-shirt/Shirt Carry light cotton t-shirts preferably full sleeves to avoid sun burn. Avoid carry black as it is a heat absorber.||1|
|CAP/HAT||A cap or a hat that can cover the head and face against the direct sunlight during peak hours.||1|
|SHOES||A pair of shoe with good traction and water proof body is an ideal match. Ensure that the shoes are not old or new, get used to the shoe if it is new, as a rule you should be comfortable to walk in difficult terrain for 6 hours at least.||1 Pair|
