Tavoor Hills Ridge Trek is one of the lesser known treks in Bhagamandala, Coorg which makes this place one of the perfect weekend getaway destinations from Bangalore. The peak here offers the best of the scenic views of Coorg. The trail in the Tavoor Hills is also known as Dumchi Gudde by the locals. The trail here has everything that a trekking enthusiast might look for. On one hand, it has dense forests and streams and on the other there’s a beautiful ridge walk towards the peak. Standing tall on the Tavoor Hill Peak, one can also see the beautiful Kopatty Hill Range. As the history suggests, Lords Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva surveyed Talacauvery Hill and Tavuru Hill to decide the origin of the river Kaveri which would then nurture and nourish the surrounding forests and the lives of so many living beings.

Once we hit the beautiful region of the Western Ghats an inner feeling of losing ourselves amidst the divine and peaceful surroundings is an evitable thought that one may go through. Soon you will witness the radiance of the golden sunrays rising from the thick blanket of the misty clouds. Since no one can predict the rains in this area, hence people usually prefer to carry an umbrella with themselves during the monsoons. Some of the delightful pleasant views and the lingering aroma of the coffee plantations neighbouring this region will make you fall in love with the aura of Coorg.

The trail of our trek begins from a tar road which extends for about a kilometer. The moment you embark on this trail you will find yourself surrounded with the local life there along with some beautiful Coffee, Mango and Cardamom (Elaichi) plantations.

Depending up on the soaring energy of the outdoor enthusiasts after the summiting the peak we can proceed towards Bhagamandala to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam besides relieving your tired feet in the cool water.

After gulping down an exciting trek we put an end to this adventurous day by lighting up a campfire while eating, sharing and enjoying the delicious local Coorgi food and our life stories, respectively.

After a good night’s sleep, early in the morning we freshen up quickly to head out towards Talacauvery. Talacauvery is considered to be the source of the river Kaveri and has a history which dates back to the time to Agastya Rishi who is believed to be the sage responsible for the origin of the Kaveri river. The return journey to Bangalore generally becomes amusing and entertaining firstly because all the unknown faces become the known ones by the end of the trek. Secondly, as a team or more so as friends we end up either playing a lot games like the dumb charades, antakshari, the interesting game of mafia, taboo or end up watching movies or listening to songs etc depending on the choices we make. We aim to reach Bangalore by approximately 21:00 hrs, however, the same depends upon the highly unpredictable traffic of this city.

By the end of this journey, you would have not just completed a trek but you would have also made a lot of new memories in addition to experiencing a difference that you yourself made in your respective lives by getting beyond your own mental and physical limits and by conquering all the barriers of the human mind. Make sure you always remember that, Tavoor Hills ka Tempo High Hai and so shall be yours.
