Are you one of those who have always dreamed about spending a night in a tent beneath the open sky, watching the stars while lying down or share and hear stories next to a campfire? Camping is not just a recreational activity but also a meditation for the brain. It connects us back to the roots of raw nature, our primitive sense. Our idea is to connect with the forces of nature and get back raw nature into the cities rather than getting the cities these disconnected places. Come and explore yourself at our camps.
Nilgiris is the extension of the Western Ghats of India in Tamil Nadu. The range of Nilgiris is also known as ‘Blue Mountains’ in English language. Nilgiris is famous for tea plantations apart from the beautiful valleys, mountains and waterfalls it has to offer. Our idea with respect to Nilgiris Camping is to connect with the ‘Blue Mountains’ of Tamil Nadu, understand the basics of camping, learn the process of tea making, hike on the trails of Nilgiris, view the best sunset and sunrise and get wet in the waterfalls of Nilgiris.

We are offering a chance for everyone to connect with nature by camping far away from the noise and pollution of the city, living under the open sky, feeling the air gush through our hair, see the night sky the way one might have not seen before, living in tents and understand the meaning of being free, meeting like minded people and opening up a whole new world for yourselves. We consider ourselves as mediums for your well deserved reconnect with the elements of nature.
WHERE IS THE LOCATION?
Our campsite is located in the heart of Nilgiri region of Tamil Nadu. We will be camping in an area where one will be surrounded by tea estates and mountains. There are places from where the dawn and the dusk of Nilgiris can be seen in full glory.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Any one who wants to connect with nature be it coming solo or
coming in smaller groups and meeting like minded people. A
campfire is a great place to meet new people, understand new
perspectives and take back a lot more than just the campsite
when we reach Bangalore.
Minors below 18 years need to get consent from their parents/guardians.
We start our journey towards Nilgiris Camp by departing from Bangalore at night. The journey to the Nilgiris campsite is an experience itself. We will be crossing many tea estates and the curvaceous roads on Nilgiri region of Tamil Nadu. Once everyone boards the Get Beyond Limits bus, a brief summary about the ‘Nilgiris Campsite’ would be provided by our outdoor leaders along with the introduction amongst all of us. The night journey will be very exciting to make it a perfect weekend camping destination around Bangalore and Chennai.
Reaching our campsite itself is a beautiful experience. Once at the campsite, we will find ourselves surrounded by luch green tea estates and infinite views. As we will begin our day, we will be welcomed by the cool temperatures of Nilgiris.
Camping is the art of pitching tents in wilderness to spend a holiday. We are fortunate enough to do it in between the tea estates of Nilgiris. Our camping sessions will not be complete without learnings. We will teach everyone how to pitch tents which is a useful art under any outdoor situation. Our campsite is situated in the heart of tea estates.
We will start hiking towards a the Kallar valley right from our campsite. There will be numerous tea gardens, which we will bypass during our hike. The valley view hike is on the faces of long narrow rocks with a sheer drop on both sides. This makes it a beautiful and also a thrilling experience to be recounted in future.
Sometimes things which happen in the mountains, remain in the mountains. Here is one such thing which happens in Kallar Valley to get the job done.
The trail ahead the ridge walk leads to a waterfall, ‘a secret waterfall’ rather. This is hidden between the gracious tea estates of the Blue Mountains. The flow of the waterfall depends on the amount of rainfall and the season. Also, the amount of water inside the waterfall can be of 5 feet depth too. It is very important to get into the waterfall with all safety measures.
NILGIRI TEA ESTATE HIKE
Nilgiris is the prominent place for tea production in India after Assam. The aroma of Nilgiri tea can be because it is produced at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level in cool climate. There is no legitimate data to back the fact that the tea from Nilgiris contributes to more than half of the 70% of the exported tea from South India. Based on the prominence of tea in South India, we want you all to walk between them and experience the raw form of tea which we Indians love.
Nobody can afford missing a sunset when surrounded by tea gardens on mountains. The beautiful moment when the sun leaves the sky, changing its colours from blue to orange and then further to black is a glory to watch. Watching the set sun from the tea gardens of Nilgiris makes it even more interesting. After Nilgiris sunset, we will return to our campsite between the mountains.
A circle of a good campfire is said to be one which stays
on forever. A campfire is an ideal place to understand new
perspectives, listen to the lives and stories of other people.
It is said that a campfire is a sacred circle which gives a
chance to all those who want to share. The ambience of a
campfire makes the stories even more interesting for those who
like to listen. Sometimes there are ghost
story sessions and even motivational story sessions by the all
those who join over the campfire.
A small tip for you is to try roasting some potatoes on fire. This is a basic of survival lesson as well.
When you are surrounded in the wilderness and the sky is clear over you, just lie down on the ground to watch the stars! You can study the basics of astronomy to make it a knowledgeable session. To make it even more interesting and easy for you, you can download mobile applications like Google Sky and see the names of all the stars and constellations you will be able to see.
Coming all the way from different corners of India for Nilgiris camping, it won’t be fair if we don’t pay a visit to a Tea Factory. The idea is to understand and learn the various processes of tea making like plucking, withering, oxidation, etc.
NORTH NILGIRI POINT
This is the place from where you can see the Northern side of Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. On the way, one can find mountains in the most unexpected view with beautiful peaks. This is one of the rare views seen in the Western Ghats range of Indian mountains. Throughout the journey, we will be passing tea estates on the bend roads.
BANDIPUR NATIONAL PARK
To make our return journey even more interesting, we will return via Bandipur National Park. Get ready to see how to dense forest looks from the inside! It is a common site to spot elephants in the forests as the vehicles cross this region. Bandipur National Park is know to be home to animals like Tigers, Wild Boar, Giant Flying Squirrel, Golden Jackal, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyaena, Leopard etc.
RETURN TO BANGALORE
We start our onward journey to Bangalore and the drop off points will be the same as the pickup points.
