DAY 0 Pickup from Bangalore
DAY 1 Overnight journey till homestay – Jeep Ride to the homestay – Freshen up – Local Karnataka breakfast – Ride to the starting point – Start the trek – The Network Point – Ridge Walk – Summit – Packed Lunch – Start descend – Reach homestay – Campfire
DAY 2 Early morning hike to nearby waterfalls – Hike down 6 Kms to the bus – Reach Bangalore

This will be an overnight journey of 333 kms from Bangalore to Kudremukh national park. Brief introduction among the trekkers will be done on the way. Itinerary for the trek will be shared by Outdoor leaders. Having light dinner before boarding the Get Beyond Limits bus is advisable.

This overnight journey takes you through the thick dense forest. The route to the base can be one of the beautiful routes one can experience.

The national park is a National Park where plastic is strictly prohibited and imposes high restrictions on littering. There is a sharp left turn from Forest permission Hut towards the basecamp from Balegal towards Mullodi. The road here is suitable for only jeep rides. Roller coaster jeep ride in Kudremukh National Park will be one ride which will be unforgettable throughout your life.

The jeep route is 6 kms long surrounded by hills and waterfalls giving you the amazing views throughout. The base camp is surrounded by hills with passing clouds and Somavati river which is said has the purest form of water in Karnataka. We reach here through a jeep, freshen up, have fresh coffee, local breakfast, pack our lunch and power packs to be all set for the trek. We will be going back to Balegal and take 18 kms drive to reach starting point of Kurinjal Trek. On the way you can see the lush green of Kudremukh along with backwaters of Lankya dam.

Our trail starts from a point having a little bridge and water stream to welcome us.

A local guide will be with us to share the stories of Kurinjal Peak and to take care of us under any circumstance. The total distance of Kurinjal trek is 14 kms (to and fro) where the difficulty level is moderate.

You can get a good view of the beautiful peak of Kudremukh while trekking. You will see a nature made gate kept open for the trekkers of Kurinjal.

After trekking through the dense forest, hearing the birds chirping, crossing small water streams for 5kms you will reach the network point. This is where our actual trek starts.


Once you reach the network point, you will see a mountain standing in front of you appearing out of nowhere.

A very small trail leads you to the steep rock which might look thrilling and adventurous. The view from the rock is breathtakingly beautiful.

From here a rocky path starts along with beautiful views. It takes us to the pole point where we can experience high amount of wind during monsoons.


As trekking continues, the trail becomes more complex and it leads to a ridge walk with greenery and steep drops on both of sides. The pleasure of reaching the peak with an altitude of 1753 mts, those clouds beneath you, that fresh wind will make everything worth it.

We will have our packed lunch and power pack on the peak and make our way back to homestay after descending down to basecamp.

Coffee, snacks will be served in the evening. Hot dinner with campfire will complete your day.

Early morning after sunrise, we will take a walk to Somavati river which joins Bhadra river and which further joins Tungabhadra a major tributary of the river Krishna.

On the way back to Bangalore, you can experience the different climatic conditions with different mountain ranges. The drop points will be same as pickup points.

RUCKSACK/DAY PACK The broader the straps are the better you will feel. A frame oriented distributes the weight supporting the back. Suggested Capacity: 40L 1
JACKET/SWEATER The weather changes drastically, carrying a light jacket or a sweater is required at night and morning as it is cold. 1
CARGOS/ TRACK PANTS A light synthetic track pant that can easily dry when wet in case of rainfall. Cargos are rugged and are good on jungle terrains which gives it a less chance to be torn down by thorns 2
T-SHIRT/SHIRT T-shirt/Shirt Carry light cotton t-shirts preferably full sleeves to avoid sun burn. Avoid carry black as it is a heat absorber. 2-3
CAP/HAT A cap or a hat that can cover the head and face against the direct sunlight during peak hours. 1
SLIPPERS/FLIP FLOPS Comfortable slippers or flip flops for the homestay and the return journey. 1
SHOES A pair of shoe with good traction and water proof body is an ideal match. Ensure that the shoes are not old or new, get used to the shoe if it is new, as a rule you should be comfortable to walk in difficult terrain for 6 hours at least. 1 Pair
SOCKS Sports or cotton socks that don’t make your feet sweat on long walks. Carrying few extra pair is always a good idea in case they get wet 3 Pairs
RAIN COAT/PONCHO A compact raincoat or a poncho that can quickly dry when wet is very important considering the amount of rain-shower that happens especially in Monsoon. 1
WATER BOTTLE A 2 litre good leak proof water bottle. Don’t miss the chance to drink spring water, if any. 1
TORCH A small sized torch is mandatory. You would not like be in limits after the sunset. 1

ATTRACTION Kurinjal Peak being part of Kudremukh National Park is an exotic trek. While on the trail, one can spot Kudremukha Peak on one side. There are lots of waterfalls around the National Park and must not be missed.
ADVISORY While in the mountains, be prepared for any situation. The better the preparation, the more comfortable the experience can be.
WATER SOURCES There is only one water stream throughout the trek and the availability of water is monsoon dependent. One must at least carry 2 litres of water for the trek.
